STAND UP AGAINST PLASTIC!
What’s wrong with toothbrushes?
They are normally made of plastic that cannot be recycled, and can take up to a thousand years to break down. Globally we use about 3.5 billion of them every year, and about 80% of these end up in the sea, causing unmeasurable harm to marine life and to the environment.
STAND UP AND MAKE THE SWAP!
Our toothbrushes are made of compostable and biodegradable Moso bamboo with bamboo charcoal infused BPA free Nylon bristles. They are the little swap that will make a big impact.
The bristles are made of Nylon that is infused with bamboo charcoal, and are free from BPA.
Charcoal is known to whiten teeth, but it is also naturally anti-bacterial and has deodorizing properties which can help prevent bad breath. It is able to attract and absorb particles from the mouth, just like it absorbs chlorine from water, when it is used as a natural water filter.
The bristles need to be removed before composting the handle, and can be recycled.
The handles are made from Moso bamboo, which is one of the fastest growing plant on the planet. Its an eco-friendly and naturally sustainable material which grows spontaneously without the need for pesticides, and has a fast regrowth cycle.
Bamboo is naturally anti-fungal and antibacterial, making it an extremely hygienic material.
All of our bamboo toothbrush handles are heat treated to carbonise them. This process gives them a lovely quality finish, but also makes them water-resistant, which helps to prevent the growth of microbes (bacteria and mould).
If you are worried about the pandas, there is no need when using our toothbrush. They don’t eat Moso bamboo.
We wanted to have as minimal packaging as possible, so we decided to simply wrap our toothbrushes in recycled/recyclable tissue paper with a small recycled sticker.
We get the toothbrushes shipped completely ‘naked’, so if you want to see them like that in your parcel, just let us know in the comments.
